Collateral Beauty – Will Keep You Guessing (SPOILER FREE)
NO SPOILERS!!! (see why at the end) I won't spoil by revealing the two twists in the plot.
this film will keep you guessing right up to very end, I doubt whether you'll guess the eventual outcome!
An emotional tear jerking drama, with a Stella cast. But why does this film feature in so many top ten worst films of 2016? I can't understand the poor reviews this has attracted.
This has been criticised for being yet another Will Smith 'OSCAR bait' film, but don't listen to the professional critics, I've seen enough rubbish in 2016 to know this isn't that bad.
Will Smith's character writes letters to three things, the three pillars of life, he's suffering severe depression after a tragic loss. These letters are posted in order to reconcile his emotions and gain closure (it's in the trailer, so not a spoiler).
He spirals deeper and deeper into depression and doesn't seem to care that his business is in jeopardy as well. Bereavement can't be dealt with as a 'sprint', more like a 'marathon', and the film depicts that well.
If you want exploding cars and superheroes then this definitely isn't for you. If you want an emotional drama that's twistier than a twisty thing then you'll appreciate this. This film made my wife cry, and my wife is far from being a weepie kind of girl.
